Orbi Router Setup

Orbi Satellites are additional devices distinct from the router itself, serving to enhance Wi-Fi signal quality, download speeds, and coverage provided by the main router. Referring to them as network boosters or Wi-Fi extenders makes their function more easily understandable. The Orbi system allows the incorporation of satellites with their routers, enabling the expansion of Wi-Fi network reach, improved speed, processing capabilities, and more. For optimal performance, it’s essential to ensure that Orbi satellites are synchronised with the main Orbi router. If you’re encountering issues with Orbi Satellites frequently disconnecting, here’s how to resolve the problem.

Sync Issue with Orbi Satellite

Verify That It Is Compatible With Everything

Firstly, it’s crucial to understand a vital point: not all Orbi satellites are compatible with every Orbi router currently available in the market. Mere availability of an Orbi satellite and router doesn’t guarantee seamless connection, synchronisation, and optimal functionality. To maximise the performance of your Orbi router, regularly check and ensure compatibility with any satellites you intend to use. This step is essential to ensure they work together seamlessly.

Additionally, confirm that the router is compatible with the number of satellites you plan to connect. Investigate this aspect as well. Attempting to link numerous satellites to your Orbi router might result in reaching its maximum allowable connections. Knowing the maximum satellites your router can handle will enable you to address any issues effectively.

Reset Your orbi Satellite

To address Orbi satellite syncing issues, you can attempt to resolve them by resetting the Orbi WiFi. It’s possible that your Orbi satellite is currently connected to a different router, causing the syncing problems you’re experiencing.

To initiate the reset, press and hold the reset button for 5–10 seconds or until the white power LED on your satellite starts blinking.

This indicates that your Orbi satellite has been successfully reset to its factory settings. After this process, you can verify that it is now synchronised with your router.

Additional Causes for Orbi Satellite’s frequent disconnections

Similar to any other electronic device, the Orbi Satellite requires electricity to function. While it may seem obvious, it’s important to note that the effectiveness of the device depends on the strength of the current it receives, which might vary based on where it is plugged in.

By assessing the strength of your current, you can determine if it is sufficient for all the electronics in your home to operate optimally.

If your Orbi satellite has disconnected, ensuring an adequate power supply will help ensure proper functionality. Following this, attempt to reconnect the Orbi satellite to the router. If the power supply was indeed the issue, this step should resolve the problem, allowing the system to function as intended.

Restart Your Orbi device

Restarting electronic devices is essential as they are not designed for continuous operation, needing time to “breathe.” Additionally, giving devices the opportunity to update settings and eliminate unwanted configurations or connections enhances their overall performance.

Although your Orbi Satellite features a reset button on the right side of the back, the most effective way to restart it is by unplugging it from the power source. Simply go to the wall, disconnect your Orbi Satellite, wait for a minute or two, and then plug it back in.

The device will handle the rest, initiating a fresh start and returning to operation in an improved condition. This procedure should address any issues related to connecting to the router.

Re-Sync the Satellites

If there are interruptions in the internet signal at your residence, it can cause the satellites to lose communication with the router, especially if the satellite is far away.

The good news is that resolving this connection problem is straightforward. Here’s what you should do:

  • Locate the router and find a button labelled “Sync” on the back. Press and hold this button for at least two minutes.
  • Next, locate the Orbi Satellite and find the Sync button on the back, typically the first button on the left. Press and hold the Satellite’s Sync button for two minutes.

By following these steps, you can likely resolve the issue of Orbi Satellites disconnecting. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to our technicians for further assistance. They will be able to help you troubleshoot and resolve any remaining issues.
